Gen. Schuyler Intrenchment Historical Marker Near Where the Moses Kill Empties into the Hudson River
American forces under the command of Gen. Phillip Schuyler built intrenchments where the Moses Kill empties into the Hudson River south of Fort Edward, NY in an attempt to stop British Gen. Burgoyne's efforts to split the American colonies. Schuyler eventually retreated his forces from the Moses Kill to the Saratoga area due to a shortage of troops and the possibility of being encircled.
