Ormond Beach Community Gardens Reopen Sept. 1 After Renovations; New Applicants Face Waitlist

Ormond Beach Community Gardens reopened on September 1, 2026, after a six-month renovation period. The closure, which began on March 1, 2026, impacted new gardeners, who could not obtain a plot during that time and now face additional waiting periods.

The renovations affected both garden locations within Ormond Beach's Central Park: 601 Hammock Lane, established in 2015, and 601 Fleming Ave, established in 2017. The gardens are ADA compliant and offer raised plots for accommodations, ensuring accessibility for all residents.

The Ormond Beach Community Garden Program began in 2015, following a 2013 City Commission priority. The Ormond Beach Community Gardens Advisory Committee manages the program. This committee includes UF IFAS Master Gardeners, Garden Monitors, and current plot-holders.

Plot rentals cost Volusia County residents $20.00 for a six-month term, while non-residents pay $30.00. Terms begin on March 1st and September 1st. With the gardens now open, new applicants can inquire about plot availability, though they may experience a wait.
