Milton Water Quality Advisory Issued for Carpenter's Park Creek Due to E. coli

Milton residents should continue to avoid contact with the creek water at Carpenter's Park following a water quality advisory issued by the City of Milton on August 14, 2026. Testing conducted after recent heavy rainfall and storm surge detected E. coli bacteria in the creek.

The advisory specifically recommends against swimming, wading, or playing in the creek. This measure is a precaution to protect public health due to the elevated bacteria levels.

Carpenter's Park itself remains open for public use. The park's splash pad is also safe and continues to operate, as it uses a separate water system unaffected by the creek's water quality. The Blackwater River and all City boat ramps are unaffected by this advisory and remain open for recreational activities.

The City of Milton notified the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) about the E. coli detection. City officials are working to identify the source of the elevated bacteria levels and will continue to monitor the water quality in the creek. Updates will be provided once testing indicates the creek is safe for recreational use.
