Winter Garden's youth services received a significant boost with the grand opening of the new June Family Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. This state-of-the-art, 30,000-square-foot facility dramatically expands the organization's capacity in the community, now serving over 300 children and teens daily.
The new branch, which celebrated its grand opening on Thursday, increases the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida's capacity in Winter Garden by more than 400%. This expansion addresses a long-standing need, as demand for the club's programs had outgrown its previous facility after nearly three decades of service in Winter Garden.
Designed with the diverse needs of its members in mind, the June Family Branch features separate entrances and dedicated spaces for younger children and teenagers. The Teen Center includes an Arts Lab and Maker Space, Music Studio, Dance Studio, Technology Lab, and College & Career Lab. Younger members have access to a Youth Center with a STEM and Robotics Lab, Health & Life Science Learning Center, Arts Lab, Game Room, and a "Zen Den."
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida highlights the critical role these services play in the community. Ninety percent of local Club members qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 85% come from families earning $40,000 or less annually. Half of the local Club members live in single-parent households. Despite these challenges, the organization reports a 100% high school graduation rate among its seniors.
Years of community investment and partnerships made the June Family Branch possible. Key contributors included the June Family, Foundation for a Healthier West Orange, Dr. Phillips Charities, the City of Winter Garden, and the Orange County Commission. This collaborative effort ensures Winter Garden's youth have access to a safe and enriching environment for years to come.
