The Lee County Supervisor of Elections office began mailing approximately 119,000 vote-by-mail ballots on Sept. 29, 2026, to residents with active requests on file. The ballots are for the Nov. 3 general election.
Voters who requested a mail-in ballot but will not be at their registered address should contact the Elections Office immediately to update their request. Vote-by-mail ballots cannot be forwarded to a new address.
The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. The Supervisor of Elections advises voters to mail completed ballots back no later than Tuesday, Oct. 20, to ensure timely delivery and processing before the Nov. 3 election.
Voters may also return ballots in person. Hand-delivered ballots are accepted at any Lee County Supervisor of Elections office Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, 12 authorized secure ballot intake stations will be available at all early voting sites from Oct. 19-31, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Election Day, Nov. 3, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Florida law allows a voter to return their own ballot, an immediate family member's ballot, and up to two ballots for non-family members. Possessing more than the legally allowed number of ballots is a third-degree felony.
