Jefferson County Commission Approves 37 Resolutions, Awards Small Business Grants
"The Jefferson County Commission met, vetted, and approved 37 resolutions this week. Highlights include the following. You can view the meeting in our online livestream archive.There were 3 public hearings for zoning cases and one carry over case that had already had a public hearing. All items passed. Commissioner Scales pulled item #30 for separate consideration (it was the carry over case) She made sure all parties in attendance understood the zoning and that all past questions had been resolved.Items of new business: Resolution for Roads and Transportation to pick up storm debris in unincorporated Jefferson County from June 4 - June 16. Residents can enter requests in the MyJeffCo app or call R&T at 205-325-5141 to schedule the pickup. Items should be vegetation, and placed on the right-of-way.Resolution authorizing the polling precinct located at North Avondale Library to be relocated to the Willow Wood Recreation Center. Economic DevelopmentResolution granting $150,00 each to CARA and HICA to support small business growth in Jefferson County. As a condition of the grant, both organizations agree to deliver a small business-focused curriculum and technical assistance, provide one-on-one advisory support, facilitate access to capital through lending programs, and support business formation.Community Grants by District:District 1 - Commissioner ScalesCommunity Grant to Kulture City for $15,000 to create a sensory space for airport travelers and provide training for Sensory Space Operations.District 2 - Commissioner TysonCommunity Grant to III-Z Inc for $5,000 to assist with its program to provide school supplies and a community health fair for Jefferson County youth.District 3 - Commissioner StephensGrant to the City of Adamsville for $20,000 to assist with the purchase of a Polaris Side-by-side vehicle for rescue and wild-land firefighting operations.
