Gainer Phone: 850-617-7985 DESCRIPTION An employee in this class performs field inspection work involving liquefied petroleum (LP) gas facilities to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, rules, and accepted safety standards. EXAMPLES OF WORK Inspects LP gas facilities and equipment of LP gas dealers, manufacturers, distributors, and cylinder filling plants to determine compliance with state laws and rules; Reviews construction plans for LP gas installations, recommending approval or disapproval; Submits reports of inspection activities; Discusses inspection results with dealer personnel; Investigates complaints of unsafe LP gas practices and equipment; Inspects LP gas vehicles to determine if they are in safe operating condition; Advises and assists LP gas dealers in complying with safety laws and regulations; Tests LP gas samples for quality and purity; Utilizes a state vehicle to travel to inspection sites; Performs other related duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of LP gas codes, standards, and safety practices. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to conduct inspections and investigations. Ability to detect code violations. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to work independently. Ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Ability to travel. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent and two years of experience in LP gas installation, maintenance, or repair work. Completion of a certification or training program in LP gas installation, maintenance, or repair work can substitute for the required experience on a month-for-month basis. SPECIAL NOTES Requires possession of a valid Florida driver license. Preference will be given to candidates with Certified Employee Training Program (CETP) certifications.
