SANTI DEBRIANO

About this Event
Asante Santi Debriano Quartet Bassist and bandleader Asante Santi Debriano is a dynamic presence in jazz, always pushing creative boundaries while honoring the genre's deep traditions. His extensive performance and recording career includes collaborations with jazz legends such as Archie Shepp, Kenny Clarke, Mal Waldron, Kirk Lightsey, Chico Freeman, Arthur Blythe, David Murray, Oliver Lake, Baikida Carroll, Cecil Taylor, Sam Rivers, Hank Jones, Elvin Jones, Pharoah Sanders, Randy Weston, and Joe Lovano. His fluency across jazz idioms has made him one of the music's most sought-after sidemen, and a respected leader in his own right. For the Quartet, Debriano has assembled a group of master improvisers, each a bandleader in their own right, united to explore the outer edges of idiom and language in jazz. Abraham Burton --- Saxophonist and educator Abraham Burton has been a prominent figure on the jazz scene for decades. He has been showcased as a soloist on two Grammy Award-winning albums and has appeared as a featured musician on more than one hundred recordings. Tom Guarna --- Grammy-nominated guitarist, composer, and arranger Tom Guarna weaves jazz, funk, Latin, soul, pop, R&B, and world music into a sound all his own, forging ahead in his true forte: modern jazz colored by classical influence. Robby Ameen --- Grammy Award-winning drummer Robby Ameen has built a recording career spanning Dizzy Gillespie to Paul Simon. Though Lebanese by heritage, Ameen is best known for the Afro-Cuban jazz style he has helped define. He has recorded with flutist Dave Valentin and jazz great Rubén Blades, toured and recorded extensively with Jack Bruce's Cuicoland Express, and remains a longtime member of Conrad Herwig's Grammy-nominated Latin Side of... Band. All GA sections (Main Floor GA & Miles Davis Mezzanine) will be seated by host and are first come, first served (other than where a reserved sign is posted to table).
