Pinellas County School District Restructuring Plan

Pinellas County Schools Superintendent Kevin Hendrick presented a plan recommending the closure of six schools by the end of the current school year, aiming to save approximately $25 million. The district is facing declining enrollment and birth rates, prompting these significant changes to optimize resource utilization. Additionally, some schools will undergo transformations, such as Azalea Elementary moving to a K-8 model and Boca Ciega High becoming a technical high school.
