Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Overview

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) manages 254 state parks and recreation areas. We also manage 13 scenic waterways, 11 historic sites, 15 lighthouses, 7 natural areas and one state forest. We have an annual budget of $150 million and more than 600 employees. We manage more than 100,000 acres of lands and waters and serve more than 55 million visitors each year.

Our mission is to provide outstanding recreation, conserve natural, scenic, historic, and cultural resources, and provide opportunities for a healthy and prosperous Oregon. OPRD is primarily funded by lottery revenue, recreation fees, and other sources. We do not receive general tax revenue.
