A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Escambia Coastal, including Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, and Perdido Bay, effective immediately, October 9, at 6:53 AM CDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile, AL. This warning is set to expire at 3:00 PM UTC today.

Life-threatening wind and storm surge are unfolding. NWS Mobile forecasts Category 1 Hurricane force winds (75-95 mph, gusts to 120 mph) from early this afternoon until this evening. Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Significant rainfall (4-8 inches, locally higher) could lead to major flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Isolated tornadoes are also possible.

Residents in affected areas must shelter in place immediately. Do not venture outside. If in storm surge prone areas, remain sheltered in a safe location and move to upper floors to escape rising water if necessary. All ordered evacuations should be complete. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
