A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Escambia Coastal, including Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, and Perdido Bay, effective immediately by the National Weather Service Mobile, AL. This is an extreme and life-threatening event. Residents in storm surge prone areas must complete evacuations immediately. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave to avoid being cut off from emergency services or risking lives.

Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible between Friday morning and Saturday morning, with potential for over 6 feet above ground. Extensive structural damage to buildings, washed-out escape routes, and severe beach erosion are anticipated. Urgent completion of efforts to protect life and property, including moving to safe shelter, is required before hazardous winds develop.

Hurricane force winds of 70-90 mph, with gusts up to 120 mph, are expected from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning. This is equivalent to a Category 1 or 2 hurricane. Extensive roof damage, mobile home destruction, widespread power outages, and impassable roads due to debris are expected. A Flood Watch is in effect, with 4-8 inches of rain expected, leading to major flooding, potential evacuations, and rescues. Several tornadoes, some potentially intense, are also possible. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be prepared to shelter quickly.
