A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Escambia Coastal areas, including Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, and Perdido Bay, by the National Weather Service in Mobile, AL, effective immediately. This warning is for an Extreme severity event with Immediate urgency, expiring October 8, 2026, at 12:15 PM UTC.
Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts should be completed immediately. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave to avoid being cut off from emergency services. Extensive structural damage to buildings and roads is expected due to inundation and battering waves.
Hurricane force winds of 70-90 mph, with gusts up to 110 mph, are expected Friday afternoon until Friday evening. Prepare for considerable wind damage and move to safe shelter before Friday afternoon. Extensive damage to roofs, mobile homes, trees, and power infrastructure is anticipated. Power and communications outages are likely.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with 4-8 inches of rain expected, leading to major flooding and potential evacuations. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes; listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if issued.
