Venice Football Coach Peacock Sets New Wins Record

John Peacock became Venice football's winningest coach last week, securing his 199th career victory in a 69-0 defeat of Lehigh. He surpassed Jim Powell's previous record of 198 wins.

Peacock tied Powell's long-standing mark the week prior with a double-overtime victory against Lakeland. The Indians hold a 4-0 season record.

Peacock has led Venice football for over two decades. He coached three of the program's four state championships since 2000.

"It's an honor to be mentioned in the same breath as Powell," Peacock said. He credited his coaching staff for the achievement.

Venice hosts Cape Coral at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Powell Davis Stadium. A victory would mark Peacock's 200th career win.
