Judges, Sponsors and Exhibitors Needed for 2027 STEM Fair Englewood Elementary School is excited to announce our upcoming 2027 STEM Fair! This event is a cornerstone of our commitment to fostering a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in our students. To make this year's STEM Fair a resounding success, we are actively seeking passionate individuals and organizations from our community to fill three crucial roles: **Judges:** Are you a professional in a STEM field? Do you have a keen eye for innovation and a passion for encouraging young minds? We need your expertise to evaluate student projects, provide constructive feedback, and help recognize outstanding achievements. Your insights will be invaluable to our budding scientists. **Sponsors:** Local businesses and organizations play a vital role in supporting our educational initiatives. Sponsorships can range from financial contributions to providing materials or awards. By sponsoring our STEM Fair, you demonstrate a commitment to the future of our community and invest in the development of our future workforce. We have various sponsorship levels available, each offering unique recognition opportunities. **Exhibitors:** Do you have a fascinating project, a groundbreaking invention, or a captivating demonstration related to STEM? We invite you to showcase your work at our STEM Fair. This is a wonderful opportunity to inspire students, share your passion, and engage with the community. Whether you're from a local tech company, a research institution, or an individual innovator, we'd love to have you. The 2027 STEM Fair promises to be an engaging and educational experience for students, families, and the wider community. It's a chance to witness firsthand the creativity and ingenuity of our students, and to celebrate the power of STEM. If you are interested in contributing to the 2027 Englewood Elementary STEM Fair as a judge, sponsor, or exhibitor, please contact our STEM Fair Coordinator, Mrs. Anya Sharma, at anyasharma@englewood.edu or by calling the school office at (941) 474-4000. Hurricane and Weather Information
Hurricane season is June 1st through November 30th. It is never too early to begin planning your family and your home for the storm season. We urge you to plan now and be prepared. The 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, is forecasted to be more active than usual. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) expects 13 to 19 named storms, with 6 to 10 becoming hurricanes and 3 to 5 of those possibly reaching major hurricane strength (Category 3 or higher). This increased activity is due in part to warmer Atlantic Ocean temperatures, continued ENSO neutral conditions and forecasts for weak wind shear and the potential for higher activity point for the Atlantic hurricanes. Hurricane Preparedness Tips For North Miami residents, this forecast means it's especially important to stay alert and prepared. While we can’t predict exactly where storms will go, our location in South Florida makes us highly vulnerable. Members of the public are encouraged to utilize resources like the National Hurricane Center for crucial updates designed to help communities like ours make well-informed decisions before, during and after storms. The City of North Miami urges all community members to begin preparing now. Review your family emergency plans, check your hurricane kits, and make sure you’re signed up for emergency alerts from the City. We are committed to keeping you informed and safe throughout the season. Working together, we can reduce risks and protect our community. Commonly Used Hurricane Terms Tropical Storm: Substantial winds of up to 73 mph and heavy rains, resulting in downed trees and power lines, heavy flooding and possible tornadoes.
