The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a driver who fled after striking and killing a motorcyclist on Interstate 75 in Charlotte County late Friday.

Troopers responded at 11:20 p.m. on October 10 near mile marker 163 on northbound I-75. A 41-year-old Sarasota man lost control of his 2012 Harley Davidson, was ejected and came to rest in the inside lane. A northbound vehicle behind him struck the motorcyclist. The driver did not stop. The motorcyclist died at the scene.

FHP has not released a description of the vehicle or driver. Investigators ask anyone who traveled that stretch of I-75 between 11 p.m. and midnight on October 10 to contact the agency. Dashcam footage or other observations could aid the investigation.
