Booker Elementary Revitalizes 9/11 Memorial Garden

Emma E. Booker Elementary School in Englewood has revitalized its memorial garden, a quiet reminder of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The school gained national historical significance that day when President George W. Bush was reading to students as news of the attacks broke.

As the 25th anniversary of 9/11 nears, volunteers and school staff are restoring the garden, which features painted rocks honoring those lost. This effort is part of service projects coordinated by United Way Suncoast and Florida Blue across Sarasota.
