The fatal collapse occurred on Marly Drive, near Highway 70, southeast of downtown Durham. The falling roof caused the second floor to give way, trapping multiple firefighters on the first floor, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Two other firefighters sustained injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
