A Wind Advisory is in effect for southeastern Elko, White Pine, and parts of Nye counties until 5 AM PDT on October 12, with winds up to 50 mph; residents should secure outdoor objects and drive with caution.
A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Elko NV for southeastern Elko County, White Pine County, northwestern Nye County, and northeastern Nye County, urging residents to secure outdoor objects and exercise caution while driving.
The advisory is in effect from 1:00 AM PDT on October 11 until 5:00 AM PDT on October 12. South to southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected tonight, diminishing by mid-morning. Winds are forecast to increase again later this evening into early Monday morning.
These strong winds can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may occur. Residents are advised to secure any unsecured outdoor objects to prevent them from being blown around.
