Residents in the Kittitas Valley should take immediate steps to protect sensitive outdoor plants from sub-freezing temperatures expected tonight through Monday morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pendleton, OR, has issued a Freeze Watch effective from this evening, October 11, until Monday morning, October 12, at 9:00 AM PDT.

Temperatures as low as 33 degrees Fahrenheit are possible. These conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

This Freeze Watch applies specifically to the Kittitas Valley area. The NWS advises taking action now to cover or bring indoors any tender plants susceptible to cold damage.
