Residents in the Kittitas Valley should take immediate steps to protect tender plants from freezing temperatures. A Freeze Warning is in effect until 9:00 AM PDT this morning, October 12, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Pendleton OR.

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees Fahrenheit are expected in the Kittitas Valley during this period. These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and may also damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Looking ahead, a Freeze Watch has also been issued for the Kittitas Valley, effective from this evening through Tuesday morning. During this watch period, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 34 degrees Fahrenheit are possible.

The NWS advises taking action now to safeguard vulnerable plants from the cold. Further updates will be provided as conditions change.
