Residents in multiple counties are advised to secure loose outdoor objects immediately as a High Wind Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Morristown TN. This warning is effective from midnight tonight, October 9, 2026, until 8:00 AM EDT on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

Southeast winds are expected to increase to 20 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 70 mph. The affected areas include Blount Smoky Mountains, Cocke Smoky Mountains, Johnson, Sevier Smoky Mountains, Southeast Carter, Southeast Greene, Southeast Monroe, and Unicoi Counties.

The NWS warns that damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines, leading to widespread power outages. Travel is anticipated to be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

The primary actionable instruction for residents is to secure any loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.
