A Lake Wind Advisory has been issued for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area, Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area, and Western Nevada Basin and Range, including Pyramid Lake. This advisory is in effect from 5 AM PDT this morning, October 10, until 11 PM PDT tonight, October 10.

The National Weather Service in Reno, NV, reports southwest winds between 15 to 25 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph. These conditions are expected to generate waves 2 to 3 feet high on Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake.

These gusty winds and rough waves will create hazardous conditions for small craft. Authorities advise checking lake conditions before heading out onto the water. Residents and visitors should be prepared for a sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing any boating activities on the lake until conditions improve.
