Duval Families: Melissa & Doug Fire Trucks Recalled for Choking Hazard

Duval County families should check their toy chests for Melissa & Doug Lights and Sound Fire Trucks. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of about 84,000 units due to a potential choking hazard.

The recalled toy's fire hose port can detach, posing a risk to young children. The brand name "Melissa & Doug" appears on the bottom of the toy, inside the battery compartment.

The recall affects toys with specific date codes. These include codes where the first arrow points to 25 for the year and the second arrow points to 4 or 5. It also includes toys where the first arrow points to 26 and the second arrow points to 3. The specific date codes printed on the packaging are OET 25100, OET 25150, or OET 26064.

Target stores sold these toys in their Duval County locations and online between July 2025 and August 2026 for about $30.

Owners of the recalled toys should visit the Melissa & Doug website to register for recall instructions. Options include a free replacement toy or a refund of $30 by check or $40 in melissaanddoug.com credit. To process the recall, consumers must remove the batteries, write "RECALL" and a unique code on the front of the toy, cut off the black hose, and upload photos of the marked toy to the registration page.
