Duval County residents can now listen to a song created entirely from vegetables. Chipotle Mexican Grill partnered with the London Vegetable Orchestra to produce an original song titled “From Ground to Sound.” The track was recorded inside Abbey Road Studios in London, using instruments fashioned from fresh produce.
The song highlights Chipotle’s commitment to real ingredients by transforming them into music. Instruments featured include flutes made from corn, jalapeño trumpets, bell pepper horns, an avocado pit, lettuce percussion, and an onion bass. Beacon Street Studios developed the creative endeavor with direction from KIDS.
The collaboration between Chipotle and the five-member London Vegetable Orchestra involved a three-month experimentation process. Musicians worked to shape vegetables into instruments capable of producing specific musical notes. Patrick Johns of the London Vegetable Orchestra said, “You can carve two identical instruments, but they can respond very differently. Part of the craft is learning not to force an ingredient to sound a certain way but to find the sound that’s already there and build the music around it.”
Fernando Machado, chief brand officer at Chipotle, emphasized the project's connection to the brand's values. “Real food has always been at the center of Chipotle,” Machado said in a statement. “What made this worth pursuing was the chance to create a track that felt impossible to separate from Chipotle itself. The instruments, the sound and the story are all rooted in what we do every day.”
The song “From Ground to Sound” is available on Spotify and Apple Music. A companion film can be viewed on YouTube.
