A Rip Current Statement has been issued for Coastal Duval County by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL, effective immediately until October 11 at 6:00 AM EDT. This alert also includes a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until 2 PM EDT this Saturday.

Residents and visitors in Coastal Duval County are advised of a high risk of dangerous rip currents through late Saturday night. Flooding of lots, parks, and roads is expected, with only isolated road closures anticipated. If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.

For those entering the water, swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Do not swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
