Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Seminole County: Immediate Action Required
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Seminole County until 10:15 AM EDT today, bringing hazardous winds, potential major flooding, and a risk of tornadoes; residents must take immediate protective actions.
SEMINOLE COUNTY, GA – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Seminole County, effective immediately from October 10 at 2:07 AM EDT until 10:15 AM EDT today. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, FL, urges residents, particularly those in Donalsonville, to take immediate protective actions.
Strong winds are expected, with forecasts of 10-20 mph and gusts up to 40 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Residents should complete all property protection efforts now and move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Damage to unanchored structures, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages are possible.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Major flooding is anticipated, potentially leading to evacuations and rescues. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and floodwaters could enter many structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.
The NWS also indicates a favorable situation for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats must relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be prepared to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Tornadoes can cause significant damage and hinder emergency operations.
