A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Seminole County, effective immediately as of October 8 at 11:06 AM EDT, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee, FL. Tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours.
Residents in Donalsonville and surrounding areas should complete all preparations now before hazardous wind conditions begin. Peak winds are forecast between 10-15 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Prepare for limited wind damage, including unsecured objects blowing about, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Expect 2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, posing a moderate flooding risk. Emergency plans should include potential evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and some roads may become impassable.
The NWS also indicates a favorable situation for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly. This alert expires at 7:15 PM UTC today.
