The appointment booking system allows customers to select from multiple service types including: New Passport Only, New Passport with Photo Services, Passport Renewal, Digital Photo Services Only, and Hard Copy Photo Services Only. Users can specify the number of adults and minors under 16 years old attending the appointment. Appointments can be searched by location or preferred date, with availability shown for up to 4 weeks in advance. Appointments are not available on holidays. Each appointment takes approximately 15 minutes per person, and customers are asked to arrive 10 minutes early. The system searches for the 5 closest passport-accepting USPS locations based on the provided city, state, or ZIP code, with search radius options ranging from 1 to 100 miles. To confirm an appointment, customers must provide their first name, last name, phone number, and email address. Identity verification is required through either text message or email verification codes. Customers must complete and print their passport application form before applying at https://pptform.state.gov. Passport renewal by appointment is not available online; eligible customers must renew by mail or online through the State Department. Digital photos offered at many USPS locations comply with US Department of State regulations. The Privacy Act Statement indicates that customer information is used to schedule appointments for retail services and to identify fraudulent transactions, authorized by 39 U.S.C. 401, 403, and 404. The Department of State charges additional fees for Passport Books and/or Cards as well as processing fees, separate from USPS fees.
