Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Southern Denali Borough: Snow and Slick Roads Expected
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Southern Denali Borough until Sunday morning, with up to 8 inches of snow and slick road conditions expected; drivers should slow down and use caution.
Residents in the Southern Denali Borough, particularly south of Denali Park, are advised to prepare for winter weather conditions. The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, effective until 7:00 AM AKDT on Sunday, October 11.
Snow accumulations of up to 8 inches are expected along portions of the Parks Highway. Wind gusts could reach as high as 35 mph, potentially causing areas of blowing snow. An early season snowfall is anticipated tonight through Saturday night. While rain may mix in on Saturday, roads and especially bridges are likely to become slick and snow-covered.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling. For the latest road conditions, visit 511.alaska.gov or call 511.
