Winter Weather Advisory: Up to 8 Inches of Snow for Southern Denali Borough
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Southern Denali Borough, with up to 8 inches of snow expected and potential for blowing snow, making travel hazardous through Sunday morning.
Travelers in the Southern Denali Borough, particularly south of Denali Park, should prepare for hazardous road conditions as a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued. The National Weather Service in Fairbanks AK expects snow accumulations of up to 8 inches along portions of the Parks Highway.
This advisory is effective immediately, from October 9 at 8:32 PM AKDT, and will remain in effect until 7:00 AM AKDT on Sunday, October 11. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph are also anticipated, which may lead to areas of blowing snow.
An early season snowfall is expected from tonight through Saturday night. Rain may mix in on Saturday, but roads and especially bridges are likely to become slick and snow covered.
