STARS Charter School Planning for 2026/27 Enrollment
As spring arrives across North Carolina, it brings more than warmer weather and longer days—it marks one of the most important decision-making periods for families preparing for the next academic year. For many parents, this is the time to reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and what environment will best support their child’s growth moving forward. Whether your student thrives in a traditional classroom or benefits from a more flexible approach, having clarity now can make all the difference come August. At STARS Charter School, we understand that no two students are the same. That’s why we offer both our established brick-and-mortar experience and STARS Virtual Academy (SVA), giving families the ability to choose the learning environment that fits their child’s needs. Why Spring Decisions Matter Planning ahead for the upcoming school year allows families to: Secure placement in their preferred program Establish routines before the summer months Reduce stress and uncertainty as the new school year approaches With enrollment timelines, staffing, and scheduling all taking shape during this season, early decisions help ensure a smoother transition for everyone involved. Exploring Your Options: In-Person vs. Online Learning For some families, the structure and social environment of a traditional classroom remains the ideal choice. STARS Charter School’s brick-and-mortar campus continues to deliver a strong, community-focused educational experience. For others, online learning provides the flexibility and personalization that students need to succeed. Through STARS Virtual Academy, families across the state can access high-quality remote learning in NC without sacrificing academic rigor or support. Key Updates for the 2026–2027 School Year We’re pleased to share that the academic calendars for both STARS Charter School and STARS Virtual Academy are now available. STARS Arts Department Highlights Performances, Upcoming Events
March 2026 – Celebrating Creativity, Growth, and Community March has been a truly special month for the STARS Arts Department, filled with creativity, collaboration, and moments our students will remember for a long time. We are incredibly grateful to all of the families, friends, and community members who came out to support our students in Hans Christian Andersen, Jr., The Great Ocean Rescue, and our K–8 Art Show, “Art is Sweet.” Your presence means more than you know and plays a huge role in building confidence and pride in our students. Looking Ahead: 7th–8th Grade Spring Productions 8 We are excited to invite you to our upcoming 7th–8th Grade Spring Production. April 15 & 16 6:00 PM BPAC Free Admission (General Seating) These performances are a wonderful opportunity to see our older students shine on stage and showcase the hard work they’ve put in over the past several weeks. If you’re planning to attend, please complete the audience survey so we can ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for everyone. From Our Classrooms: Creativity in Action 5 Behind every performance and showcase is the meaningful work happening daily in our classrooms. Celebrating Student Artists We are proud of our Campbell House Youth Art Exhibit participants, who represented STARS with creativity and confidence. Their work reflects both their talent and their dedication. Hands-On Learning in STEM In Ms. Seawell’s 7th–8th grade class, students explored engineering concepts through a STEM Ball Run project, combining problem-solving with creativity in a fun and engaging way. Theatre Exploration (5th–6th Grade) Students brought stories to life by creating shadow puppets, retelling fairytales and folktales through imaginative performances. Exploring New Artistic Techniques Our 5th–6th grade students experimented with printmaking using plastic sheeting, markers, and water as part of their mythological monster projects, encouraging both creativity and exploration. Celebrating Our Youngest Performers 6 A heartfelt congratulations to our 1st and 2nd grade students on their performance of The Great Ocean Rescue. Watching our youngest learners take the stage with confidence, enthusiasm, and joy was a truly memorable experience for everyone involved. We are so proud of their hard work and bravery. Beyond the Classroom We are also excited to continue offering opportunities like our After-School E-Sports Gaming Club, hosted by Mr. Ribet. This club provides students with a fun and engaging space to connect, collaborate, and build new skills. For more information, families can reach out directly to [email protected].
