CTV Outreach to Michigan Clergy and Churches

Serving Clergy and Churches in Michigan Clergy and Churches can make the difference Join the Clergy Email List You are meant for such a time as this Clergy and churches have long played an important role in American history.  Since 1989, CTV has been working to serve the clergy and church community in Michigan. We believe that from the local community to halls of statewide government, the people of God have an important role to play in the civic arena.  CTV works at the grassroots level to promote and preserve Judeo-Christian values in local communities and at the state capitol.  We believe that our faith demands we engage in the civic arena and it is our desire to help men and women of faith, including their leaders, know how to do it well. And oftentimes this engagement begins with the Clergy and the Church.  We advocate for responsible Christian citizenship. We believe in praying for our communities and being engaged in the process. Would you join us in this journey?  We are eager to work with you to preserve, defend, and promote Judeo Christian values from the halls of policy decisions to the ballot box to the corners of local government.  Sign Up for this Clergy Email Newsletter Resources for Clergy Legal Do's and Don'ts Proverbs for the Politically Active Clergy Round Tables Responsible Christian Citizenship What Does God Say About Government? Download Biblical Voter Resources Explore Tools What is Politics, really? Here is your new definition of politics:  When boiled down to its essence, politics is essentially: “A public conversation, about important issues, leading to ultimate decisions, that will profoundly affect every aspect of our lives.” We are all a part of this conversation, whether we like it or not. We can seek to be a positive influence in the selection of leaders and the passing of laws, or we can do nothing. We must actively participate in the electoral process or risk living under the leaders and laws that others have chosen. If people of faith do not take part in the dialogue on these important issues, there is little chance that the ultimate outcomes will reflect traditional biblical values. • “You are the salt of the earth…” (Matthew 5:13-14). • “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16). Even small measures of salt can influence and change its surroundings! Explore our Resources Be Salt and Light Biblical Foundation Biblical Foundation As citizens of two kingdoms—Heaven and earth— Christians are blessed with the privileges and responsibilities of both!“…And Jesus said to them, ‘Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.’” (Mark12:13-17)“The authorities that exist have been established by God. For (governmental authority) is God’s servant to do you good. The authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.” (Romans 13:1-7 (excerpts)) “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior.” (1 Tim 2:1-3) Showing Up We must also work together to be “salt” and “light” as representatives and Ambassadors for Christ in the public arena. “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:15) “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21) Loving the World A Voice of Hope If we don’t, who will? “When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” Proverbs 29:2 Government, as an institution set up by God, and the political system require the faithful involvement of the faith community to perform the way it was designed. If Christians are not involved as active citizens in the process, our system of government will be managed by those who do not uphold our moral values and Biblical worldview. The involvement of Godly men and women in their community can only bring about positive change in our government and our culture. A large portion of the faith base, conservative voter does not vote.  But, if they did, it would cause initiatives for life, religious freedom, and responsible government to flourish.  Often elections are won by a handful of votes. If Michigan could just inspire a few more people from the pews and the pulpits to engage, it could change everything.  How can we serve you, Pastors?  We would love to talk to you! Join our email list or contact us to see if we can assist in your efforts.  Join the Clergy Email List Contact Us You and Your Church Can  Make the Difference
