Daytona Beach Hosts Florida's Largest Water Conference
Daytona Beach Utilities staff sidestepped travel costs and gained professional credentials by hosting the Florida Water Resources Conference at the Ocean Center this month. More than 2,000 attendees and 500 exhibitors gathered for the state's largest water and wastewater industry event.
Over a dozen city employees attended conference sessions and earned Professional Development Hours and Continuing Education Units. Staff also networked with vendors and peers on wastewater management innovations.
Three Daytona Beach representatives presented at the conference. Jason Camara, superintendent of the Bethune Point Water Reclamation Facility, participated in a panel discussing operational benefits from small design changes.
The city offered two facility tours. More than 50 attendees visited Lift Station No. 34, located one block from the Ocean Center. About 30 visited the LPGA treatment plant, where city staff discussed operations and service quality.
