Fort Lauderdale United FC Falls 1-0 to Miami AC, Ending Four-Match Unbeaten Streak

Fort Lauderdale United FC lost its first match of the season Saturday night, falling 1-0 to Miami AC at Beyond Bancard Field in Fort Lauderdale. The defeat ended the USL League Two men's team's four-match unbeaten start to the season.

The match turned physical early, with both sides creating scoring chances throughout the first half. Fort Lauderdale coach made six changes to the starting lineup for the team's fifth match of the season. Captain Owen Barnett led the attack with multiple opportunities to score, but neither team found the net before halftime.

Miami AC broke through in the 65th minute, converting a penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead. Fort Lauderdale nearly equalized when Matthew Gordon threaded a pass to David Garces in the box. Garces controlled the ball and fired a shot toward the top right corner, but the Miami AC goalkeeper made the save.

Fort Lauderdale pressed for an equalizer through the final 25 minutes but couldn't break through. The loss marked the team's first defeat after opening the season with four matches without a loss.

Fort Lauderdale United FC will look to bounce back Wednesday, June 3, when the team travels to face Brevard SC at Kelly Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
