Fort Lauderdale United FC Beats Brevard SC 2-1 in Melbourne

Fort Lauderdale United FC defeated Brevard SC 2-1 on Wednesday in Melbourne, securing the USL League Two men's team's fifth victory of the season.

The teams remained scoreless through the first half. Fort Lauderdale broke through in the 48th minute when Fabrizio Cubeddu headed in a corner kick from Raul Leyva. Two minutes later, Leyva's pass found Rafael Coronado on the right wing. Coronado's shot deflected off a Brevard defender and into the net for an own goal, extending the lead to 2-0.

Brevard scored on a penalty kick to cut the deficit to 2-1, but Fort Lauderdale held on.

Fort Lauderdale continues its three-match road trip Saturday at FC Miami City, hosted at Pace High School in Miami. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
