A Storm Surge Watch has been issued for Baldwin Central, impacting Daphne, Fairhope, and Foley. The National Weather Service in Mobile, AL, issued the alert today, October 7, at 4:03 PM CDT. Residents in surge-prone areas should prepare for life-threatening storm surge flooding of greater than 6 feet above ground, with potential peak inundation of 4-7 feet above ground. Evacuation preparations should be underway, and residents must be ready to leave if evacuation orders are given.

Tropical Storm force winds, peaking at 35-45 mph with gusts up to 85 mph, are expected from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning. There is a potential for wind speeds of 74 to 110 mph. Rigorous efforts to protect life and property should be underway to mitigate considerable wind damage. Heavy rainfall of 4-8 inches is also forecast, with localized higher amounts, leading to potential major flooding. Heed any flood watches and warnings.

A few tornadoes are possible. If your shelter is vulnerable, relocate to safe shelter before hazardous weather arrives and be ready to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued. For evacuation and shelter information, contact Baldwin County EMA at 251-972-6807 or visit www.baldwincountyal.gov/departments/EMA.
