An Extreme Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Baldwin Coastal areas, with life-threatening storm surge, high winds, heavy rainfall, and potential tornadoes expected from Friday morning through Saturday morning. Residents are urged to evacuate if ordered, secure property, and prepare for widespread impacts.
BALDWIN COASTAL – An Extreme Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Baldwin Coastal areas, including Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective immediately today, October 8, 2026, at 10:06 AM CDT. This warning is set to expire at 6:15 PM CDT.
Life-threatening storm surge flooding of 4-7 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts should be completed soon. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services.
The NWS forecasts strong tropical storm force winds of 50-65 mph with gusts up to 90 mph, potentially reaching 74 to 110 mph. These winds are expected from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning. Extensive damage to roofs, mobile homes, trees, and power infrastructure is anticipated. Residents should urgently complete all remaining efforts to protect life and property and move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain expected, leading to potential major flooding. Tornadoes are also possible, and residents in manufactured homes or boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be prepared to shelter quickly.
