A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Baldwin Coastal areas, including Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective immediately as of October 8 at 6:56 AM CDT. This is an Extreme severity alert, with immediate urgency.
Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. There is a potential for surge flooding greater than 6 feet above ground. Evacuation efforts should be completed now before driving conditions become unsafe. Leave immediately if evacuation orders are given to avoid being cut off from emergency services.
Strong Tropical Storm force winds are expected from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning, with peak gusts up to 90 mph. Potential exists for Category 1 or 2 hurricane force winds (74-110 mph). Prepare for considerable wind damage; move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain expected, potentially causing major flooding. Several tornadoes are also possible, with some potentially intense. Listen for tornado watches and warnings, and be ready to shelter quickly. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter.
