ODOT Reviews Independence Transportation Projects
Oregon Department of Transportation officials toured Independence this week to assess six state-funded infrastructure projects that city staff said have improved pedestrian safety and connected neighborhoods.
The projects include the Safe Routes to School initiative, which expands student pedestrian access; the F Street bridge, which serves vehicular and pedestrian traffic; and the South Riverfront pathway, which adds walking and cycling routes along the river. The tour also covered two planning areas—Southwest Independence and Central Talmadge—that received state support for transportation planning.
The Independence Landing Project rounded out the tour.
