A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Coastal Wakulla, including Saint Marks and Panacea, effective October 7 at 2:00 PM EDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. Residents in these areas should complete preparations immediately.

Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation orders may be issued; if so, residents must leave. Failure to evacuate could result in loss of life.

Winds are forecast to reach 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, with potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Prepare for limited wind damage, including unsecured objects blowing around and broken tree limbs. Scattered power and communications outages are possible. Efforts to protect property should be underway now.

Moderate flooding rain is also expected, with an additional 3-6 inches of rainfall possible, locally higher. This could lead to evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

Tornadoes are not expected. For more information, visit weather.gov/tallahassee, floridadisaster.org, or wcso.org/emergency-management. This watch expires October 7 at 10:00 PM UTC.
