A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Coastal Wakulla, including Saint Marks and Panacea, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective today, October 9, at 5:17 AM EDT. This warning signifies severe conditions and requires immediate action from residents.

Life-threatening storm surge of 4-6 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete; residents who have evacuated should remain sheltered in a safe location and not venture outside. Major flooding rain with an additional 4-8 inches is expected, with potential for many evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

Winds are forecast to be 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with the potential for sustained winds of 39-57 mph. While conditions may be gusty, little to no additional wind impacts are expected, and community officials are assessing realized impacts.

The NWS also indicates a favorable situation for several tornadoes. Residents should be prepared to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued. This warning is effective until 1:30 PM UTC today.
