A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Coastal Wakulla, including Saint Marks and Panacea, effective immediately, October 8 at 5:22 PM EDT, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. This warning remains in effect until October 9 at 1:30 AM UTC.

Residents in surge-prone areas should prepare for life-threatening storm surge flooding of 4-6 feet above ground from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations must be completed soon. Leave immediately if evacuation orders are given for your area.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 6-10 inches of rain expected, potentially leading to major flooding and prompting evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The NWS also indicates a potential for several tornadoes; be ready to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued.

While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force (20-30 mph with gusts to 35 mph), gusty conditions are possible. Continue to monitor official updates.
