WAKULLA COUNTY, FL – October 8, 2026 – The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Inland Wakulla, effective immediately at 11:05 PM EDT and expiring at 7:15 AM EDT on October 9, 2026. This warning specifically impacts Crawfordville and Wakulla Springs.

Residents must prepare for extensive impacts, particularly from flooding and tornadoes. A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 4-8 inches of rain, and localized higher amounts, expected. This could lead to major flooding, prompting potential evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may rapidly overflow, and many structures could be affected. Driving conditions will become dangerous, with numerous road and bridge closures.

The situation is favorable for several tornadoes. Be ready to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued. Such events can cause significant damage, including power loss and communications failures. Wind speeds are forecast to be 10-15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, with potential for gusts up to 57 mph. Little to no additional wind impacts are expected beyond current assessments.

There is no storm surge inundation forecast. For ongoing information, visit weather.gov/tallahassee, floridadisaster.org, or wcso.org/emergency-management.
