Dangerous Rip Currents and Minor Coastal Flooding Expected Through Tonight
Dangerous rip currents are expected until 7 PM CDT tonight and minor coastal flooding until Sunday morning for Aransas, Kleberg, Nueces, and Calhoun Islands, as per the National Weather Service.
A Rip Current Statement and Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect for the Aransas, Kleberg, Nueces, and Calhoun Islands, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Corpus Christi, TX.
Dangerous rip currents are expected until 7:00 PM CDT this evening, October 9. These currents can sweep even experienced swimmers away from shore. If caught in a rip current, relax and float, do not swim against the current. If possible, swim parallel to the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. The NWS advises swimming near a lifeguard.
Minor coastal flooding is also expected, continuing until 7:00 AM CDT on Sunday, October 11. This may lead to flooding of lots, parks, and roads, with isolated road closures possible. If travel is necessary, allow extra time and do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Residents are advised to take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
