Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Putnam and White Counties Until 9:30 PM CDT
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for central Putnam and northern White Counties until 9:30 PM CDT, with 60 mph winds and penny-sized hail expected.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for central Putnam County and northern White County, Tennessee, effective immediately until 9:30 PM CDT tonight, September 21.
The National Weather Service in Nashville reported a severe thunderstorm located 7 miles southeast of Baxter, or 7 miles southwest of Cookeville, moving east at 15 mph as of 8:41 PM CDT. This storm brings hazards including 60 mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail, according to radar indications.
Residents in Cookeville, Sparta, Algood, Monterey, Hamptons Crossroads, Bakers Crossroads, and Burgess Falls State Park should prepare for potential damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This warning also covers Interstate 40 between mile markers 282 and 303.
For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately. The warning expires at 9:30 PM CDT.
