Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Evergreen: Prepare for High Winds, Flooding, and Tornadoes
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Evergreen, Conecuh County, bringing immediate severe threats of high winds up to 70 mph, major flooding with 3-6 inches of rain, and potential tornadoes; residents must prepare now and seek shelter.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Evergreen in Conecuh County by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective immediately as of October 8 at 10:06 AM CDT. This warning indicates severe and immediate threats, urging residents to take action now.
Strong tropical storm force winds of 45-55 mph with gusts up to 70 mph are anticipated from Friday evening until Saturday morning. Residents should complete all remaining efforts to protect life and property as soon as possible and move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Significant wind damage is possible, including damage to roofing, siding, and outbuildings, and the potential for large trees to snap or uproot, leading to impassable roads and scattered power outages.
Major flooding from heavy rainfall is also expected, with peak amounts of 3-6 inches, and locally higher. Evacuations and rescues are likely, and residents in flood-vulnerable areas should strongly consider protective actions. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers, small streams, and ditches may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures, making driving dangerous and causing numerous road and bridge closures.
The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats are urged to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if issued. Scattered tornadoes can cause considerable damage, power loss, and communications failures. The alert expires October 8, 2026, at 6:15 PM UTC.
