Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Evergreen: Prepare for 95 mph Gusts, Flooding
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Conecuh County, including Evergreen, with immediate preparations needed for severe winds up to 95 mph and extensive major flooding from Friday evening until Saturday morning.
Conecuh County residents, particularly those in Evergreen, must prepare immediately for severe conditions as a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile, AL. The warning, effective October 8 at 4:04 PM CDT, anticipates equivalent Strong Tropical Storm force winds, with peak gusts potentially reaching 95 mph. These hazardous winds are expected from Friday evening until Saturday morning.
Significant wind damage is possible, including issues with roofing, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes. Large trees may snap or be uprooted, leading to impassable roads and widespread power outages. Emergency plans should prioritize moving to safe shelter as soon as possible.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 3-6 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. This could lead to extensive major flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and small waterways may overflow, and many structures could be impacted. Heed all flood watches and warnings immediately.
While the tornado threat has decreased, the situation is still favorable for a few tornadoes. Have a plan for quick shelter if a tornado warning is issued. For local information, contact the Conecuh County EMA at 251-578-1921. More storm impact details are available at www.weather.gov/mob.
