Conecuh County residents, including Evergreen, are under a Tropical Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service Mobile AL, effective immediately as of October 8 at 6:56 AM CDT. This warning indicates that tropical storm-force winds are expected within the area within the next 36 hours. The warning expires October 8 at 3:00 PM UTC.

Peak winds are forecast to be 45-55 mph with gusts up to 70 mph, occurring from Friday evening until early Saturday morning. These conditions pose a significant threat, with potential for widespread damage to structures, trees, and power lines. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous.

Additionally, major flooding is anticipated with 3-6 inches of rain, and locally higher amounts. Emergency plans should include the potential for major flooding from heavy rain; evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed any flood watches and warnings. Failure to take action will likely result in serious injury or loss of life.

The area also faces a heightened threat of several tornadoes, with some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats are urged to relocate to safe shelter before hazardous weather arrives. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if issued.
