Concordia City 2026 Infrastructure & Code Enforcement Plan
Concordia will pause new projects this year to focus on maintaining infrastructure, enforcing codes, and completing work already underway, City Manager Amy L. Lange announced in her January-February Manager's Minute.
The City Commission maintained three priorities: maintaining infrastructure, supporting community health and vitality, and addressing housing needs. Infrastructure work includes streets, stormwater systems, water and sewer service, emergency response, building safety, and parks.
On housing, the city continues addressing a shortage identified in the 2022 Concordia Housing Study, which found an immediate need for more than 200 homes. Development is underway in the St. Joseph Subdivision through partnerships with CloudCorp and local businesses. The city also enforces codes to preserve existing housing stock.
The community health priority includes property maintenance enforcement and partnerships with other organizations to address social challenges. Lange said the city relies on these partnerships when specialized services are needed.
"You may see fewer grant applications for new initiatives and more attention on maintaining public facilities, code enforcement, and policy education," Lange wrote.
